1973 International Transtar 4070A Cabover truck

I bought this truck about 1 1/2 years ago and had intentions of doing a full restoration on it. Long story short, Ive added several more trucks to the herd since then and they have moved up as a higher priority, so I have decided to part with this one. If you are looking for a nice clean 4070A to restore, you will not find a cleaner and more original example with the bones this truck has to start with. This truck was originally out of Mississippi and was used on a cattle and cotton farm. The odometer cable is broke, But I believe this is a very low mileage truck. Its showing 83,781 Miles and 3550 engine hours and I believe the miles are very close to what its showing. The pedals have very little wear, the steering wheel still has all the texture on the foam and has not been worn smooth like a Higher mileage truck, cab is tight, front end is very tight, and the shifter is nice and tight without the normal slop of a higher mileage truck. The cab paint and frame is all original with no rust or corrosion whatsoever and still has the original markings on the frame from the factory. Passenger side luggage box looks like brand new inside like it had never been used.

1973 International Transtar 4070A, 8V71 Detroit, 13 speed, Spring suspension, no power steering, wipers, radio, dome lights, work as well as the rest of the lights on the truck, clutch feels strong, brakes work good, front end is tight and does not roam all over the road, doors shut tight and and windows roll up and down. The interior is in very nice shape to be 50 years old, headliner is in good shape, all gauges work except speedometer and fuel gauge, heater works and fans are very strong in the cab and bunk both, has A/C but doesn’t blow cold, cab jack works well. The engine runs strong, has good oil pressure and runs cool. The truck will smoke some out the right bank when you start it cold, but will clear up as it warms up and will clean up completely after running down the road, does have some leaks as any 50 year old Detroit would and drips some oil out the air boxes. Transmission shifts as as it should, does not make any abnormal noises nor jump out of any gears. Fuel tanks are in nice shape and the original bumper is nice and straight as well which is a rare find. The Paint is original and old, cab is very straight with the exception of one small spot behind the driver side grab handle which you will see in the pictures. The frame is rust free and in very nice condition, has 10.00-20 rubber that all hold air, but the tires are old showing their age. The truck builds and holds air good, but after you shut it off there are a couple of small air leaks that you can hear if you go to listening for them. I have replaced a few of the air lines, but there are several more that will need replacing from age.The old truck is what it is, a 50 year old used truck and is not perfect, but it has the perfect bones to be made into a very nice 4070A.

The truck will need to be hauled. The tires and air lines are old and would not suggest driving a long trip on them.
